If you’re into summer and you like the beach, we’ve asked a few local cold brew makers to offer up their product for us to dabble in. What you will need, bring a cup, and as always a little bit of (coffee) cold brew to share with the group and come hang out on Spanish Banks with us.Read More

Last year I featured women in the world who were killin' it at their craft. There was some much needed love for women in coffee. What's it like to start up a coffee roaster in the remote BC town of Powell River? Our lovely Coffee Friend Citizens this week, Margot & Nate Jantz from 32 Lakes Roasters, will tell us!
Powell River has a population of 13,000 and is 40-min flight or 5-hour-2-ferry trip from Vancouver, BC.
Who, What: Nate Jantz, Green Buyer/Director of Coffee/Roaster & Margot Jantz, Director of Marketing
Right now I am drinking, while reading... sparkling water right now, but aside from that we receive the "roasters pack" each month, which is 3 different coffees from Canadian roasters. We are currently enjoying the Bows & Arrows, Nicaraguan Finca Bella Aurora :) and reading Hunger Games!
Highlights: A great tag-teamed conversation with another husband and wife team (shout outs to Eight Ounce Coffee), speaking about the lively community of roasters outside Vancouver and how they help each other out. 32 Lakes Roasters was also nominated for Best Community Impact for the Small Business BC Awards.

Thanks for reading!
Don't forget to come out to the public coffee tasting this Sunday at 3 PM on East Pender Street.
I am so lucky to be meeting so many coffee people that are so very passionate about the industry. Joey shared his first encounter with the coffee and went on to describe that his work and experience at Elysian has shaped his relationships here in Vancouver.Read More
